Floral Design Workshops
The signature events of our tours, our Floral Design Workshops, are always led by expert designers who live in the region we are visiting. The instructors who have participated in our past Netherlands and Belgian tours will be joining us virtually this year. All five are leading floral designers with years of experience that expands beyond their home countries. These designers are expertly skilled in mechanics, design, composition and teaching.
Floraliën
“The best flower show I have ever seen” - From a flower show judge who went on our 2016 tour and has attended flower shows around the world. Floraliën Gentse occurs only once every five years. We oriented our 2016 tour around this unparalleled flower show. The festival, set in the city center of Ghent, Belgium, displays Belgian plants and flowers. The top professional florists, student designers and garden designers create incredible and imaginative floral displays. Our 2020 tour has been postponed due to COVID now twice so we decided to bring Floraliën to you virtually. The show director will narrate an interesting and informative program about the history of Floraliën, the beautiful designs, the designers involved, and the logistics it takes to get this two week show up and running. Do not miss it!
Historical Tour of Ghent
Ghent, Belgium is a charming medievel town that acts as our Belgian home base during our in-person tours. Ghent Authentic Tours have put together a program designed specifically for our virtual tour where you will learn about the rich cultural history of this beautiful and historic city. See the city with knowledgable locals!
Keukenhof
Keukenhof Garden is the largest bulb garden in the world featuring over 7 million blooms. Keukenhof designs 60+ small gardens annually featuring tulip and bulb products from Dutch growers. Each year is unique with specially commissioned artwork and full of ideas for gardens. Truly a seasonal garden, Keukenhof is only open 8 weeks each year. Daffodils, hyacinth, fritalleria, and of course tulips fill the gardens. We have missed seeing the spring bulbs at Keukenhof! So we are going there virtually! Keukenhof will give us an insider’s tour to the garden including its history and behind the scenes view into creating this spectacular garden.
Dutch Flower Auction & Belgian Flower Wholesaler
The Dutch flower auction in Aalsmeer is something not to be missed! Royal Flora Holland is the world's largest floral marketplace where over 1 billion flowers are bought and sold each year. For over 100 years, Royal Flora Holland has operated as a collective of growers in order to move flowers worldwide. One of our Belgian instructors will lead us on a tour of a flower wholesaler. Flowers galore!
Tulip Field Bicycle Tour
What could be better than riding your bicycle through the colorful Dutch tulip fields? Our instructor, Joan Stam, grew up and still lives in the Dutch countryside surrounded by tulips. He will take us on a lovely tour through the blooms.
Art in Bloom: Northern Renaissance and Baroque Floral Still Lifes
Learn about the rich and beautiful history of Northern Renaissance and Baroque Floral Still Life Paintings. Faith Flowers' very own Director of Marketing, Kristin Fabrizio, is also an art historian who specializes in floral paintings! She will discuss how the Flemish and Dutch love of botany, the tulip bulb craze and the successful art markets contributed to the origins and development of floral still life paintings in Northern Europe.
